The rising pressure of medication spending across the health system and in particular how it impacts global budgets for coordinated care is the current focus of the Pharmacy Workgroup. While independent, the conversations are strategically aligned with the Oregon Health Authority’s ACE-P group (formerly Pharmacy Cost Collaborative Group) and others in discussing a variety of methods with potential to reduce pharmacy spending.

Ongoing discussions address proposed metrics, one prescribed drug list, drug rebates, group purchasing, turnaround time rules,  high cost/low effectiveness medications, and more. The workgroup is also involved in conversations about potential pharmacy legislation and related task forces.

In 2016, the workgroup provided public comment to the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee on DAA therapy for Hepatitis C.
