The rising pressure of medication spending across the health system and in particular how it impacts global budgets for coordinated care is the current focus of the Pharmacy Workgroup. While independent, the conversations are strategically aligned with the Oregon Health Authority’s ACE-P group (formerly Pharmacy Cost Collaborative Group) and others in discussing a variety of methods with potential to reduce pharmacy spending.
Recent discussions have addressed one drug list, drug rebates, group purchasing, turnaround time rules, high cost/low effective medications, and more. In 2018, the workgroup will track pharmaceutical cost legislation and how to best leverage their expertise.
